FAQ for Clay Workshops
What is the payment for?
The payment required for booking the class will cover the project(s) being offered in that particular class. The only other fees that may be involved are if you are purchasing additional pieces or paying for shipping. What are the options to choose from?
Each workshop will have a particular project(s) that are listed in the event description. The colors to choose from will be shown at each event and may not always be the same from class to class. How many slots do I need?
One slot per person that will be creating. For example, if you want your three children to take the class where each of them will be involved in creating with clay, you’ll need to book 3 slots. Please make sure you book them for the same time slot, as different time slots may be offered. How long does the class take?
The length of the class depends on the complexity of the project. The age and ability of the child should also be considered when thinking of how long it will take. As more of these classes happen, I will get a better feel for how long the classes should be. For now, I’ve scheduled them to be an hour long. Kids may finish sooner or later. I will not make children leave that haven’t finished their project, so don’t worry. Kids that finish sooner are welcome to leave the class early. Can I make only one item in the class?
Each class will include a different project and may include more than one (it depends on the particular workshop being offered- please read event description). Additional projects may be made for an additional fee. These will need to be purchased at the time of booking as I will need to have time to prepare materials. How long will it take to get these pieces back?
Ceramics is a delicate, multi-step process. Because of this, the items will not be able to be brought home immediately. Read the event description for a better idea of when the items will be ready, because many factors are involved with turn-around time. How will I know when my order is ready?
When the items are ready, you will be sent a text to the number that was provided at booking letting you know what day and location you can pick up your items. If the workshop was done at a store, that is also the pick up location. If the workshop is at my studio in Covington, the pick up address will be sent to you when items are ready (pick up will be at my home in Covington). Can the items be shipped to my house instead of being picked up in person?
Absolutely! I ship pottery all the time. Shipping will be an additional fee that you can choose at time of booking, or at the workshop. Will we be painting the items made in the workshop?
It depends on each workshop. In most cases, the items will be painted by a Clayful Memories team member after the workshop. At the workshop, you’ll be able to choose a color for the items. Can I leave my child unattended for the workshop?
The answer to this may change in the future and be dependent on age and type of workshop, but for now, a parent or adult guardian must be in attendance for each child. I will be relying on parents, especially of younger children, to help make sure they’re paying attention. Is the workshop dangerous?
Nope! The clay is safe to work with, and all tools will be safe also. What should we wear?
All creators should wear clothes they wouldn’t mind getting a little dirty. Aprons will not be provided. The clay usually washes out just fine for me, but I still recommend wearing play clothes to the workshop. How do you know which items belong to whom?
Each item will be labeled at the workshop with the number on your order form that will be filled out during the workshop. This number will be etched into the bottom of the piece so that I can keep it with the appropriate order form all the way to the end. I’ve never gotten items mixed up, so don’t worry :)What ages are allowed to participate?
Each workshop may have different age requirements. For most kids clay workshops, ages 5+ are welcome to come. Please read the description on each event for these details. We will be offering some adult workshops at times, as well.Do students need to bring anything?
No! I will have everything that is needed. However, if you have particular stamps, cookie cutters, or textures you would like to use, feel free to bring those.Do you do private workshops?
Yes! Private workshops for groups can be scheduled at my studio. Availability may be limited depending on time of year. Please email me to discuss! If you have other questions, please email clayfulmemories@gmail.com and I will get back to you shortly!
